Actually, as a design....there are too straight lines which really wreck that rose composition. Upper and lower lines of leaves/stems are too straight. It makes a too strong statement. Like....shove....shove. Instead of gentle....gentle or flow...flow.
Again....I'm having fun learning the language of art.

Celeste, I love your roses and the poem. It is true about life. Here is my thought on living without close family...you adopt people to be in your life to share with. We have moved so much and lived so far from family that we did this. I found in every case my children had the gift of adoptive grandparents. We always had others to invite for holidays...even when we lived in Germany. If we needed something out of the ordinary there were always people we could count on as if they were family and we did likewise. My mother lived for over 20 years without her husband...but she was never alone as there were so many that were always there for her. She had a strong church family and also many were placed in her path. I strongly believe that we are watched over with love

Dear Tami, You are a beautiful rose too. Thank you so much for the post. Doesn't take much talent to do what I've done. But does take bravery. LOL Not many people want to take chances with a flop. But I do it all the time. I read online last night. He who does not learn from failures, will fail again. I think that is why I appreciate so much my failed work in any medium. Because I learn from it. Therefore am never scared to put it out there even when it is hokey. LOL Dear Pat, Another ROSE you are also! What a sweet reply. You should be a motivational speaker. I think you would be really good to help those who are seeking solace. Thank you for your post! HUGS to all who have posted here. And also to all of you....

Pat, do you have one to enter yet? I'm anxious to see what you are doing with the Tombow pen and water. They sure are fun to do those sketches. However, sometimes scary too. I did one the other day that had a face......to scary and kind of bad looking.....so threw that one away. I don't like scary things. but the fun things are all enjoyable.

Ok Celeste...Not very good at this.... But, will join in the contest, just because it is a fun project. A beautiful duck I met today, so sweet she was, a riding on the waves of Blue I asked..Fair lady what are you doing so far away from home? I was lonely and deceided to take a chance in finding someone out on the waves of blue. My heart was won immediately and sending warm messages to my brain. Such a beautiful marriage they had upon those waves of blue. Together now forever, never to be lonely again, they swim on those blue waves to beautiful lands unknown. PennyN Indy

This time the poem came first. Now I gotta go draw something!!!
WHY I LIKE OLD THINGS
I LIKE OLD THINGS, SENTIMENTAL I GUESS BUT THINGS WHICH ARE OLD SPEAK STORIES, I CONFESS
I SOMETIMES WONDER IF OLD OBJECTS HAVE SOULS? IF SO, WERE THEIR SOULS YOUNG ONCE AND NOW THEY ARE OLD?
OR IS IT JUST A REFLECTION OF MEMORIES WE CAST? WHICH MAKES UNLIVING OBJECTS SEEM SWEETER FOR TIMES PAST?
WHATEVER THE REASON, DOESN’T MATTER TO ME I JUST LIKE OLD THINGS I OCASSIONALLY SEE. copyright June 13, 2013

now another one: A HAT
A HAT IS OF COURSE A NOGGIN TOPPER FOR SURE, THE APEX OF ALOOF, OR REQUIREMENT, OR DEMURE.
THEY EXIST FOR A REASON BUT WHAT MIGHT THAT BE? IT’S UP TO EACH NOGGIN TO CHOOSE WHAT OTHERS SEE.
THIS HAT I WEAR IS NOT IN ANYWAY VAIN, IT SIMPLY A COVER TODAY FOR THE RAIN.
YOUR HAT MAY BE NONE OF THE ABOVE IT MAY BE A GIFT, A TOKEN OF LOVE
SO, COVER YOUR NOGGIN WITH A HAT FOR A DAY NO MATTER IT’S PURPOSE PEOPLE WILL LOOK YOUR WAY.COPYRIGHT JUNE 13, 2013Dad burn it.....now I have to go draw another one.....YIKES! Sometimes the silly poems are just fun as all get out. Maybe not for you all....but for me it is.

A day I will never forget, I woke up alone and sad Thinking of all that happened. Putting my trust in God was all I had.
Knowing the one true God on his throne.
Would accept my plea. Keep Lewis safe with thee.
A thankful prayer for all I have known. The friends and family who give me strength,
the art I love sustains me.
Thank you God for giving me this a brief moment of bliss When everything seems amiss.
We are never truly alone!
Just my thoughts, not a painting but from the heart. Because of Lewis I do what I do he pushed me out the door and said go and get em! Celeste my constant encourager, has helped me more than, she will ever know. has helped me get through the some of the worst times of my life. So count me in on the challenge! I will do my best not to disappoint.

Celeste, Love your Noggin poem. Now I want to go search for that perfect hat!
I am not gifted to write poems, but here is a poem.....and song I have always loved.I want to share with you all.
One Day
Living he loved me; dying, He saved me; Buried, He carried my sins far away; Rising, He justified, freely forever; One day He's coming- O GLORIOUS DAY!

Calling all souls to heaven To a better place No show of face God knows us all On the wings of angels We must go When our time on earth is done Did this quickly this morning used bubble wrap and placed and then lightly pressed down, this what I see!

Lake Lewie There is a place I know where a man built a dream For all to see and use One scoop of earth at a time He toiled and toiled for over a year digging Ready for the rain to fill it A great pond was dug filled with hopes and dreams A great rain came and the pond filled and was that way it was for 5 years until, the man died suddenly A great drought came about The pond dried up, the spring that fed it did too. Waiting until another great rain comes and the drought is broken Mending everything All who loved the pond and the man who dug it named this work of love Lake Lewie

Dear June, What a great little song/poem. I've never heard that one but will put it in my reading collection of things that are comforting to me. Thank you for sharing it. Hugs.
Dear Cherryl, Love your two paintings and the story you wrote along with both. Makes me feel sad for you as I know you miss Lewis so much. And it's true as well about the drought. It is as if all dried up and has not come back with flowing waters yet.
Someday, the rains and spring that feeds Lewis' pond will return. I pray for that day so that you will feel the beauty of what Lewis made for all to enjoy.
I never saw it more beautiful than when you had his car parked on the dam. That was so touching to see when you had his memorial service that day.
My heart does ache for your loss.
I enjoy seeing you when you are so happy like when in Paris. Or at schools or seminars. Thank goodness for Lewis pushing you to do this kind of thing. I know also it must be hard to stay at home as well though. Especially when the lake is not how he left it.
Such a touching reminder is hard to bear, I'm sure. Thank you for joining in this contest. Yours are what 'art' really is....according to some circles of art people. It's emotion. Pure emotion. And I feel that in both of your paintings.
You should do more of those and then paint some bigger ones eventually. Paint how you feel in a few more. We love seeing them. And if small....they are quick to do.
Thanks again Cherryl. You've brought us both beauty and tears through your paintings and stories/poems.

Thank you all. It seems I am on a soul searching journey and with my art and your help I don't feel so alone. Thank you all for your support. These first painting was a plan, "lake Lewie" the second was just a happening, but I saw angels leading souls to heaven. Guess that is where my mind went.
