Around 20 years ago, I was thinking of a way to show students how to use color theory easier. So, I made my circular palette and used to hand these out at seminars This makes color theory without having to learn all the unnecessary mumbo-jumbo. Today I add more info from what I learned from Bob Burridge when deciding colors. 1. 80% of surface= 3 analogus colors=3 colors next to each other on this palette. 2. 10% near focal area of complement color = color opposite of the ‘middle’ color of the three analogus colors you chose. 3. 5% each of the discords= 2nd color on each side of complement …….use at focal point sparingly. Then use #2 and #3 to mute the main 3 analogus colors (#1) as you paint outwards away from the focal area.

Dear Mary Lou Great to hear from you. I love your art and your website was always one of the best designed and so amazing. Loved it. I’ve been really busy this past few years and it is hard to find online time. I need to get back to doing what helps others when all of us teachers help the beginners etc to learn. Welcome back and feel free to make your own thread or whatever you want to do. Miss you and all our great people who used to post here. Facebook pretty much did us in but maybe we can eventually get some help to those who need or want our help. Great to see you!!!

I was thinking about china painters and which artists will be famous. Some will be famous for excellent technique of copying other’s artworks.
Others, whom I think will endure much longer in history for the future will be the artists who include creative aspects in their interpretive-copy work …sometimes more than just their technical ability…this include photo replicators who copy their own photos or get creative with other’s (friends) photos.
Other artists learn design and composition and attempt to do mostly original artwork from their imaginations. I’d add Jean Sadler, Sonie Ames, and other artists of the past decade in this category.
Of course, Franz Bischoff and Franz Aulich are already being collected and their paintings have been sold for thousands of dollars. But who are the current artists whom I would collect so that my children would have valuable paintings to hand down to their future generations.
I already own a few whom I think are Uber-collectible living artists…Paula White, Cherryl Meggs, Kay Houston..but whom else would I like to have pieces of to add to my collection?
Marci Blattenberger Paula Collins Barbara Jensen Jane Marcks Alzora Zaremba Mary Gosden Ann Zitterkopf Barbara Bougher Kari Unn Paye Andreas Knoble Petra Kugelmeier Etc
Original art by these folks and others will accrue in value by leaps and bound in the next 2 or 3 generations, in my humble opinion. So, when buying paint and china you might also invest in art as some economists say that art is a better investment than land.
P.S. There are too many wonderful artists to mention above of whom I would love to collect so if you are good at painting your own original or creative art..then you are in the list as …etc…

Why Can’t We Be Like Children? by Celeste McCall
Why can’t we be like children And dream of a better day, Where everyone is kind to all, And love will always stay.
Where every one we know is dear, And hours are filled with play, Why can’t we be like children, With a gentle and trusting way?
Be someone who believes that good Is not just for a few, Be kind and caring like the child Who’s still inside of you.

There is also a rumor about buying Michael’s paints.
I’ve read the texts off of her phone in person.
1 Cherryl asked the family for ONE color..3 weeks after his passing. A family member said ok. 2. Then the family member offered more if Cherryl was interested. 3. Cherryl said yes and offered an amount. They asked for higher amount and Cherryl agreed to pay the higher price. 4. She made arrangements to pick it up. 5. She drove many miles to pick it up and paid for it. 6. No conditions were put on buying or even re-selling the paint.
There was also another rumor that Cherryl tried to get Michaels spot as a teacher in a school. This is false.
1. The school personelle asked Cherryl if she would come if Michael couldn’t because of diagnosis. and treatment and she said ok. 2 She was later asked to come because he would not be coming. 3. She booked flight and sent supplies. 4. He turned better so Cherryl was cancelled. 5. Cherryl requested they send back her supplies..pay her for one day’s wages, and refund her airline ticket. They did so but bought her supplies.
So, Cherryl was asked and later booked for the class because they did not think that Michael was able to come. Cherryl was ready to go and a few weeks before the gig she was cancelled ….because he was coming after all.
The lie that she tried to take his place at the school is false. THEY ASKED HER.
These are my opinions based on what I have seen or been told.

There are false rumors/accusations being spread about Cherryl Meggs that she was charged and found guilty of ehics charges over buying a $40 box from an estate that Ipat was interested in. She never approached that estate until after the donor asked for Cherryl directly! Cherryl was not guilty and any non-biased jury in the United States would find her innocent on the following evidence:
1. A donor offered Ipat a punchbowl. Ipat declined. That is all Ipat was offered! 2. He then requested to be put in touch with Cherryl Meggs and Rosemarie Radmaker. he asked for Cherryl and Rosemarie after he offered one piece to Ipat only and Ipat declined that piece.!!!! 3. Tana Parks wanted to see what was still available in the estate china items so asked him about other pieces they had. 4. He sent the link to both Tana and Cherryl. 5. Tana selected 2 item and asked for them for Ipat. She did not ask for the 3 Hilda Palmer rose boxes as Tana says china painted roses are “old lady roses.” 6. He agreed that would probably be possible for the 2 pieces Tana asked for. 7. Cherryl saw the Hilda boxes on the inventory and suggested The 3 Hilda-boxes…but when telling Tana about them ….Cherryl asked Tana if she could buy one. Tana said, “No problem, but wait to see what he was going to do, first.”. Cherryl did not have to obey Tana. She was asked by the donor to be put in contact with him! See #2 above. 8. Cherryl contacted Him and he said he would talk to his family. Later they sold one of the 3 (same subject and same color boxes) to Cherryl for $40. 9. After he sold a box to Cherryl, Tana asked for it along with several other items as a “requested list” in an email and wrote that she knew that the family might not send all of them. He did not tell her he had sold the box to Cherryl. 10. He sent the remaining items to Ipat with no promises nor packing list. 11. Celeste knew he had sold a box to Cherryl because Cherryl showed a photo of it to her after he mailed it to Cherryl.. Paula knew nothing about any of that nor what was asked for from the estate by Tana…. because she was packing up her house 300 miles away. She was never involved in emails concerning any of it. Yet, Tana Parks misled and falsely accused her of knowing about this…which is a lie. Paula knew nothing about this. 12. When the Ipat donation arrived, Tana asked if all was there and made the trip. Celeste said yes because she knew there were only two boxes of Hilda’s sent with the donation and Tana had said Cherryl could have one of the 3. There was no promised list and no confirmation nor packing list arriving with the boxes. They were subsequently photographed and put into months-later magazines. Tana also viewed the 2 newly donated boxes along with 3 other Hilda Palmer boxes inside the Museum cabinets. Never had a problem with only two 2 boxes in the cases nor only 2 picured in the magazines. 13. Months later, Suzanne Painter asks the office where the 3rd box from Tana’s original “requested” list was. Paula had no idea what Tana was talking about. Letha Sandifer and Celeste knew it had been purchased by Cherryl. 14. Paula called Letha and Letha said Celeste told her that Cherryl bought it. Paula thought that might just be gossip as she had no proof…and no first hand knowledge. nor a final list nor packing slip. 15. Tana submitted an ethics accusation against Cherryl. Inquiry was held, and in her defense , Cherryl emailed the donor and told him that Tana falsely accused her ….and he emailed her back saying it was the family’s and his decision on what to send to whom …(that he had not promised to Ipat all that Tana requested….in other words.). SUMMARY: The donor never promised Ipat Tana’s entire requested list. And after his initial offering of the punchbowl to Ipat, he had immediately asked for Cherryl. He wanted china to go to people who loved the pieces.
Three people found Cherryl guilty of using her position to usurp getting that 3rd box. Just the opposite was true…Tana usurped Cherry and Rosemarie ….whom he ASKED For. before he sent the website showing the other items to Tana and Cherryl. Cherryl was the Museum Committee Chairman and the committee should have chosen pieces. But Tana never allows committees to make decisions if it involved choosing aquisitions. Cherryl didn’t trust Tana because Cherryl showed Tana a plate on ebay which the museum should purchase, but Tana said no.. Then Tana bought it for herself.
Bottom line.. Tana said Cherryl could buy one. He asked for Cherryl first ….and it was Tana who usurped Cherry and Rosemarie. He got Ipat’s requested list from Tana, but said in an email that it was up to his family and him to make final decions of what to give to whom.

Paula and I have been falsely accused by Tana Parks. and Cherryl is innocent of ALL false accusations also.
Tana Parks has provably and on purpose said false accusations about us and she provably did the same concerning Vicki Dean and Bertie Stephens and others.
Furthermore, 7 office workers have resigned under Tana…along with 4 Past-Presidents, 5 magazine Editors, and 6 or 7 board members. Also 2 Parliamentarians and many various committee members have resigned. Plus Leroy, who was the maintenance and lawn man….who did all for FREE ….resigned. Not only these, but also many other Texans will never join again as long as Tana Parks is on the board or on committees. And all are thrilled to have left because she is so abusive. Anyone want proof? Let me know and I’ll email it ALL
Suzanne Painter is also guilty of provable false statements.
These are my opinions only.

I had never really looked at a septum going up into the nose. It makes a big difference if we really look at it. The nostril is never a complete circle...even for animals. Was eye-opening for me. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Attachments:

Noses are usually the main reason some do not like to paint portraits. I was told by a dentist that many portraits didn’t get the nostrils and septum correct. And sure enough I had to go read about parts of the nose to see what he was talking about. Attachments:

Thank you Marci. I agree about asking the person if they want their artwork back ...if they are alive that is. You have a keen outlook and I appreciate your thoughts. You are very wise. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you Lois. I agree that art is very much like music. I’m concentrating on trying to do more whimsical art in the future... ..I’m inspired by the movie, “Mrs. Potter.”. it is a movie about Beatrix Potter’s adorable paintings. I cannot wait to see what you paint in the future. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

There is a place where some donated paintings were not “up to snuff” as other donations had previously been. So it was first suggested that the group return it to the person who donated it. Instead of returning the donations, the group decided to eliminate such by selling the “junk” …as it was called by the head of the group. She also said they had too much “old lady” art like roses, grapes, flowers, etc. and needed space for her preferred-type of quality art.”. She would have definitely tossed the painting shown below. Question 1: If you painted fine art or even decorative art, would you want your donated-item sold? or would you want it returned to you? Question 2 and this is the jist of this entire post: … If you saw the painting below...would you keep it or toss it? (This painting below , BTW, was last sold for almost $120 million. Both this painting and the Mona Lisa are the two most recognized painting in the world according to online articles. Question 3: If a person cannot paint well themselves then can they judge art as good or bad for a Museum, for instance? And by doing so, would they discard such as the painting below because they do not nor ever had any type of design lessons or art appreciation lessons? Question 4. List by preference what makes good art to your eyes. Design by art principles The subject The emotion How much it looks like a photograph Something different than normal Mood of the painting
